Humanize AI Text: Make AI Writing Sound Like You ⚡
Teach Claude to write like a real human. Build a permanent humanizer skill so every piece of text passes AI detection.
AI detectors don't read your text for meaning. They measure statistical patterns. The same sentence structures over and over. The same filler phrases. The same punctuation habits. Remove those patterns and the text reads as human.
This guide teaches you to build a reusable Claude skill that humanizes everything you write. One command. Forever.
How It Works
Wikipedia maintains a page called "Signs of AI writing" that catalogues every pattern AI detectors look for. We're going to feed that entire list to Claude, tell it to never do any of those things, and save it as a reusable skill.
A skill is a saved set of instructions that Claude follows whenever you activate it. When you type /human, Claude switches into humanizer mode and applies all the rules automatically. You build it once, install it, and it works forever.
The 4-Step Setup
Step 1: Tell Claude to Humanize Your Text
Open Claude and start a new chat. Paste this prompt:
I want you to humanize all my text moving forward so it doesn't sound like AI. Go to this Wikipedia page:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:SignsofAI_writing
Read through every single pattern listed on that page. From now on, never use any of those patterns in your writing. List out every pattern you found so I can confirm you understand them all.
Claude will read the Wikipedia page, pull out all the patterns, and list them back to you. Check the list to make sure nothing got missed.
Tip: You don't need to copy and paste the Wikipedia page yourself. Claude reads it directly when you give it the URL.
Step 2: Verify the Pattern List
Claude should come back with about 24 patterns across four categories:
- Content patterns: inflated significance, promotional language, vague attributions
- Language patterns: AI vocabulary, copula avoidance, synonym cycling
- Style patterns: em dash overuse, excessive bold, inline header lists
- Communication patterns: chatbot pleasantries, sycophantic tone, filler phrases
If anything is missing, tell Claude to go back and look again.
Step 3: Build Your Humanizer Skill
Stay in the same chat and type:
/skill-creator
Build me a personal humanizer skill based off everything we just found so I never have to explain any of this ever again. Name it 'human'. Make it activate when I type /human.
Claude will build a complete skill file with all the rules baked in.
Step 4: Install the Skill
After Claude generates the skill, click install. The skill gets added to your Claude setup permanently.
To use it, just type /human at the start of any chat. Then write normally. Claude automatically applies all the humanizer rules.
Important: Stay in the same chat for all four steps. If you start a new chat between steps, Claude loses the context from the Wikipedia patterns.
Every AI Pattern That Gets Flagged
Here are the patterns AI detectors look for, organized by category.
Content Patterns
- Inflated significance: "Serves as a testament to..." "Pivotal moment in the evolution of..." Fix: just say what it is. Skip the importance puffing.
- Undue notability claims: "Featured in The New York Times, BBC, and Wired..." Fix: cite one source with a specific detail.
- -ing phrase padding: "Highlighting... Underscoring... Emphasizing..." Fix: end the sentence. Start a new one.
- Promotional language: "Vibrant" "Nestled" "Breathtaking" "Groundbreaking" Fix: use plain, specific descriptions instead.
- Vague attributions: "Experts say..." "Industry observers note..." Fix: name the actual source or drop the claim.
- Challenges and prospects: "Despite challenges... the future looks bright" Fix: state specific facts. Skip the optimism.
Language Patterns
- AI vocabulary words: "Delve" "Crucial" "Landscape" "Tapestry" "Foster" "Leverage" Fix: use normal words. "Look into" not "delve."
- Copula avoidance: "Serves as" "Stands as" "Boasts" instead of "is" or "has" Fix: just say "is" or "has."
- Negative parallelisms: "It's not just X, it's Y" "Not only... but also..." Fix: state the point directly.
- Rule of three abuse: "Innovation, inspiration, and industry insights" Fix: don't force three items. Two or four is fine.
- Synonym cycling: "The protagonist... the main character... the central figure..." Fix: pick one name and stick with it.
- False ranges: "From X to Y" where X and Y aren't on a real scale Fix: list the topics. Skip the range framing.
Style Patterns
- Em dash overuse: using em dashes everywhere for dramatic effect Fix: use commas, periods, or parentheses.
- Excessive bold: every other phrase in bold for emphasis Fix: bold sparingly or not at all.
- Inline header lists: "Speed: The speed has improved..." Fix: write in prose. Skip the bold labels.
- Title case headings: "Strategic Negotiations And Global Partnerships" Fix: sentence case: "Strategic negotiations"
- Emoji decoration: bullet points starting with emojis Fix: remove emojis unless the audience expects them.
- Curly quotes: using curly quotes instead of straight quotes Fix: use straight quotes in plain text.
Communication Patterns
- Chat artifacts: "I hope this helps!" "Let me know if..." "Certainly!" Fix: remove all chatbot pleasantries.
- Cutoff disclaimers: "As of my last update..." "Based on available info..." Fix: state facts directly without disclaimers.
- Sycophantic tone: "Great question!" "You're absolutely right!" Fix: skip the validation. Answer the question.
- Filler phrases: "In order to" "Due to the fact that" "At this point in time" Fix: "To" "Because" "Now"
- Excessive hedging: "Could potentially possibly be argued that it might..." Fix: pick a position. "The policy may affect outcomes."
- Generic conclusions: "The future looks bright" "Exciting times ahead" Fix: end with a specific fact or next step.

Before (AI-sounding)

After (human-sounding)
AI coding assistants speed up some tasks. In a 2024 Google study, developers using Codex finished simple functions 55% faster but showed no improvement on debugging or architectural decisions.
The before text hits five AI tells in one sentence. The after text states a specific fact with a source. That's the difference.
Example 2: Product Description
Before (AI-sounding)
This groundbreaking tool boasts a vibrant interface, offering a seamless experience that fosters collaboration and enhances productivity. It's not just a tool -- it's a catalyst for innovation.
After (human-sounding)
The app has a shared workspace where your team can edit the same document at the same time. It saves about 2 hours per week compared to emailing files back and forth.
The before text uses promotional words and a negative parallelism. The after text describes what it actually does with a specific time savings number.

Run this on your own writing before publishing. Even with the humanizer skill active, occasionally a pattern slips through. A quick audit catches anything the skill missed.
What AI Detectors Actually Look For
Perplexity: How predictable is the next word? AI tends to pick the most likely next word. Humans are less predictable. Your humanizer skill handles this by varying sentence structure and avoiding the most common AI word choices.
Burstiness: Humans write with uneven rhythm. Some sentences are short. Others run long with multiple clauses. AI writes with consistent sentence length. Your skill fixes this by mixing up the rhythm intentionally.
Vocabulary distribution: AI overuses certain words compared to human writing. "Delve," "crucial," "landscape," "tapestry," and "foster" appear far more often in AI text. Your skill replaces these with normal alternatives.
Heads up: No method is 100% reliable for bypassing AI detectors in all situations. Detectors are constantly updating. The goal is to write text that genuinely sounds human, not to trick a specific tool. If your text reads naturally to a person, it will pass most detectors most of the time.
The real unlock of AI agents is not full autonomy, but human-in-the-loop systems design. Structure your agent inputs with explicit constraints, negative prompts, and automated test checkpoints. When building tools, keep token consumption lean by caching system prompts and isolating tasks into specialized sub-agents.
